We loaded up and made the drive down to West Lafayette with a clear goal in mind. Spend time with one of college basketball’s best point guards in NCAA history and deliver something truly personal. What unfolded at Mackey Arena exceeded every expectation we had.
There is something special about stepping into Mackey. The history, the energy, the echoes of past games all seem to live in the walls. It felt only fitting that our time with Purdue point guard Braden Smith took place right there in the heart of it all. Inside one of the most iconic venues in college basketball, we set up for a conversation and a moment that was equal parts meaningful and memorable.
From the start, Braden was exactly what people say he is. Genuine, humble, and incredibly grounded. As we sat down for the interview, the conversation naturally flowed through his journey at Purdue, his growth as a player, and the significance of his accomplishments. We talked about his assist record and what that milestone represents to him, not just statistically, but personally. His answers reflected a team-first mindset and a deep appreciation for the people and experiences that have shaped his career.
We also shifted into something that connects directly with what we do at Reclaim Customs. Collecting. Braden shared insight into his own card collection, what he enjoys about the hobby, and how it ties into his love for the game. It was a reminder that even at the highest level, the passion for sports cards and memorabilia still hits home.
Then came the moment we had been building toward. The reveal.
We presented Braden with a series of custom cards created specifically for him. Each piece was designed to reflect his story, his impact, and his identity as a player. Watching his reaction in real time was something we will not forget. There is a different kind of connection when an athlete sees their journey captured in a tangible, artistic way. His response was thoughtful, appreciative, and incredibly real.
That is something we want you to experience for yourself. You can watch the full interview and card reveal HERE, where you will see Braden’s genuine reactions and hear his heartfelt thoughts on his career in his own words.
Beyond the interview and the reveal, what stood out most was who Braden is as a person. He went above and beyond in every way. After we wrapped, he took the time to give us a full tour of the facility, including the locker room and behind-the-scenes areas that most people never get to see. It was generous, unexpected, and deeply appreciated.
And then came one more moment that meant a lot on a personal level. Braden gifted me a pair of his game-worn shoes from December 10 against Minnesota. Not just a piece of gear, but a piece of his story. That kind of gesture speaks volumes about his character.
This experience was more than a collaboration. It was a reminder of why we do what we do at Reclaim Customs. Creating meaningful, one-of-one collectibles is about more than design. It is about honoring stories, building relationships, and capturing moments that last.
If you are a Purdue fan, a college basketball enthusiast, or someone who appreciates the art of collecting, this is a story and a video you will not want to miss.
