More Than a Fishing Trip: Turning a Day on Lake Michigan Into a Collectible

There are certain days you know you'll remember before they're even over.

August 3, 2026 was one of those days.

We had the opportunity to spend the day on Lake Michigan with Detroit Lions legends Herman Moore and Scott Mitchell for a fishing charter that brought together football, fishing, family, friends, and a whole lot of laughs.

We captured the experience from beginning to end, and I'm excited to finally share the full story in a new video on our YouTube channel.

It's worth watching, because this day became about a lot more than catching fish.

A First Worth Remembering

One of the things I've enjoyed most about building Reclaim CoLab with Herman is talking about what makes a collectible actually matter.

Rarity matters. Autographs matter. Game-used memorabilia matters.

But the story behind an item is what gives it life.

This trip was Herman's first time fishing on Lake Michigan. That's a small detail on paper, but it's exactly the kind of thing we want to capture through Reclaim CoLab. We had the chance to experience something together that had never happened before, and now there is a story attached to it forever.

That's where the idea for our newest run of collectibles came from.

Even the shirts we wore that day were part of the plan. We wanted something that would look great on the water, while also knowing they would eventually become part of the memorabilia. It was two-fold from the beginning: wear them while making the memory, then use pieces of those same shirts to help preserve it inside a collectible.

Now, pieces of those shirts will live inside a very limited series of custom trading cards commemorating the experience.

To me, that's what makes them special.

From the Boat to the Card

As part of this Reclaim CoLab release, we're creating just 10 dual-relic trading cards, each featuring material from the actual shirts worn by Herman Moore and Scott Mitchell during the Lake Michigan fishing trip.

Each card will be individually numbered /10 and autographed by both Herman and Scott.

This is an opportunity for collectors to own a piece of the story.

These aren't generic player-worn swatches pulled from an inventory of memorabilia. When you watch the video, you're actually watching Herman and Scott wear the material that ultimately became the relics inside these cards.

I love that connection.

You can see the experience, hear the conversations, watch the fish being pulled out of Lake Michigan, and then hold a small piece of that exact day in your collection.

Football Found Its Way Into the Day, Too

There was another part of the experience that made the day particularly special for my family.

My dad joined us on the charter, and after we got off the water, everyone headed back to his house. Friends and family came over, we fired up the grill, and the 1995 Lions Thanksgiving Day game found its way onto the television, which was a historic day statistically for both Scott and Herman.

If you're a Lions fan, you know the game.

There was something pretty surreal about having Scott Mitchell and Herman Moore sitting there while watching their younger selves on the screen and hearing the stories that came along with it.

This Is What We Want Reclaim CoLab to Be

When Herman and I started talking about Reclaim CoLab, we didn't want to simply put his name on products.

We wanted to curate things together.

We wanted to create collectibles around moments, memories, experiences, and legacy... Things that have a reason to exist beyond simply being another card.

That's an important distinction.

The hobby will always have rookie cards, parallels, serial numbers, autographs, patches, and chase cards. I love all of that, but there's another side of collecting that I think has incredible potential.

What if we create the moment first, and the collectible comes second?

That's what happened here.

Nobody went fishing because we needed material for a relic card.

We went fishing because we wanted to have an experience together.

Herman fished Lake Michigan for the first time. Scott joined him. We caught fish. We laughed. My dad got to spend an incredible day with two players he'd watched for years. Friends and family gathered afterward. Old football stories were told. A 31-year-old Thanksgiving game played in the background. And at 10:30 at night, my dad even caught a pass from a former Detroit Lions quarterback in his backyard.

We went fishing because we wanted to have an experience together, but we also went into the day knowing we wanted to preserve a piece of it.

That's Reclaim CoLab.

It's taking moments worth remembering and finding meaningful ways to preserve them.

Sometimes that's an important moment from an athlete's career. Sometimes it's a milestone. Sometimes it's a piece of history.

And sometimes it's a fishing shirt from a really great day on Lake Michigan.

Years from now, I don't want someone to look at one of these cards and simply see a piece of fabric.

I want them to know exactly where it came from.

I want them to know the story.
