From an iconic NBA Logoman to a tribute honoring one of football's greatest players, these two recent Reclaim Customs projects showcase the craftsmanship, creativity, and storytelling behind our custom trading cards.

Recently, we completed two projects featuring athletes whose legacies transcend their respective sports: NBA champion Paul Pierce and legendary Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton.
While the finished pieces couldn't be more different, both represent what we love most about custom card making.
Paul Pierce: An Iconic Logoman, Reimagined
Few players embodied the toughness, confidence, and competitive spirit of Boston Celtics basketball quite like Paul Pierce.
Nicknamed "The Truth," Pierce spent 15 of his 19 NBA seasons in Boston, becoming one of the most prolific scorers in franchise history. A 10-time NBA All-Star, 2008 NBA champion, and Finals MVP, Pierce cemented his legacy as one of the great players of his generation before earning induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
For this particular project, however, the centerpiece wasn't a statistic, championship, or individual accolade.
It was an authentic, game-used NBA Logoman patch taken from one of Pierce's game-worn jerseys.
Among basketball memorabilia collectors, the NBA Logoman is one of the most recognizable and desirable elements of a player's uniform. Its distinctive silhouette has become synonymous with some of the hobby's most sought-after trading cards.
Our challenge was to take that extraordinary piece of memorabilia and build a custom card worthy of its significance.
Rather than simply placing the patch inside a card, we approached the project as a complete presentation. The design, composition, materials, and construction all needed to work together, allowing the Logoman to remain the unmistakable focal point.
Working with a relic of this nature also requires precision. The window must be carefully designed to accommodate the artifact while preserving its integrity, and the finished card must strike a balance between visual impact and craftsmanship.
The result is a one-of-one Paul Pierce creation that celebrates both the athlete's legacy and the history represented by the jersey itself.
It's the kind of project that reminds us why we love what we do.
Walter Payton: Honoring Sweetness With a Jumbo Tribute
If Paul Pierce represented the competitive heart of the Boston Celtics, Walter Payton was the heart and soul of the Chicago Bears.
Affectionately known as "Sweetness," Payton played his entire 13-year NFL career in Chicago, becoming one of the most beloved and respected players in football history.
A nine-time Pro Bowler, Super Bowl XX champion, and the NFL's all-time leading rusher when he retired, Payton was known for his remarkable combination of power, agility, durability, and relentless work ethic.
But his legacy extends far beyond football. The NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award continues to honor players who demonstrate excellence both on the field and through their contributions to their communities.
For our Walter Payton project, we wanted to create something that reflected the magnitude of that legacy.
And a traditional-sized trading card simply wasn't going to do it justice.
Instead, we created a Jumbo custom piece featuring a cut autograph, a handwritten inscription, and four authentic Walter Payton jersey relics.
Each component contributes something different to the finished collectible.
The cut autograph provides a personal connection to Payton himself, preserving his signature as a central element of the design. The accompanying inscription adds another layer of historical character and individuality.
Surrounding those elements are four authentic jersey relics, creating a presentation that brings together multiple pieces of memorabilia in a single cohesive tribute.
Unlike the Paul Pierce Logoman, these jersey relics are described as authentic jersey material, without making any specific claims about game use.
That distinction matters to us.
At Reclaim Customs, we believe the stories told through our creations should be just as carefully considered as the physical cards themselves. Accurate descriptions and responsible representation of memorabilia are essential to maintaining trust with collectors.
From a production standpoint, this Jumbo project presented its own unique challenges. Incorporating six distinct memorabilia elements into one design required careful planning to ensure the finished piece felt balanced rather than crowded.
The objective was to create something visually impressive while allowing each artifact to retain its own significance.
The finished piece is more than a custom trading card. It's a tribute to one of the greatest running backs to ever play the game.
Behind the Scenes: Where the Real Magic Happens
While collectors typically see only the finished product, some of the most fascinating parts of our work happen long before a card is completed.
Designing and building custom memorabilia cards involves far more than printing artwork and inserting a relic.
Every project requires a combination of creative planning, technical problem-solving, precise cutting, assembly, and finishing. And when you're working with rare memorabilia, there's very little room for error.
These Paul Pierce and Walter Payton projects were no exception.
We documented portions of the creative and production process to give collectors a closer look at how these two unique pieces came together inside the Reclaim Cardistry Cave.
